A beginners day course in stained glass making at our B&B Studio in Alcala de los Gazules, Andalucia. Students will choose glass and then learn how cut glass to a pattern, use copper foil or cut the lead came which is soldered and finished to complete a stained glass panel or mirror to take home.

What does the course cover?

Students will learn stained glass making from scratch, from cutting glass to a stained glass pattern to using copper foil or cutting and shaping lead came, soldering, cementing and polishing, you will complete a stained glass panel by the end of the class.

Be prepared to be busy!

 

What do I need to bring?

Just bring yourself and some old clothes and sturdy shoes, we provide all materials, glass, lead, solder and tools for your day. Because we deal with lead, it is not recommended for pregnant women.

 

Refreshments are also provided. Lunch - students normally go out as a group to a local bar or restaurant - 50 meters away, local tapas is really good. Or you can bring a packed lunch if you prefer, we have a huge sunny roof terrace with tables and shade.

 

What are the course times? The course starts at 9am and runs until 4.00pm approximately, there is a chance that it may overrun depending on progress.

Beginners - Tiffany - €150 for one day course.

Courses will be run in the studio within the bed and breakfast, beginners "Tiffany panel" classes will normally be one day 9am - 4pm (around 6 hours) long with a couple of breaks and lunch inbetween. The costs include all materials. In this time you will make a simple design, choose glass, cut the glass, grind, refine and copper foil it, assemble the panel, solder it, blacken it, clean it and take it home. All of these stages will be supervised the whole time.

or you can design something yourself and bring it along. For the beginners class we recommend keeping it simple, ie: the first design above is around 24 pieces, all 24 pieces have to be cut, ground, wrapped, soldered, etc. Bear it in mind.

 

Beginners - Lead Came - €150 for one day course.

 

Same as above but using traditional lead in an "H" shape, same as is used in churches.
